The Oklahoma City Thunder are treading water in the Western Conference despite a star-studded roster. Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and Paul George are still trying to figure out how to play together. The biggest thing standing in their way appears to be time. With the team only on the fringes of the playoffs and not looking like the anticipated lethal threat, there have been rumblings that the Thunder may opt to make a trade and break up the trio. Anthony and George are both in contract seasons and can leave Oklahoma City Thunder after the season.
Thunder brass, however, may stick it out and try to make the pieces fit. According to Ken Berger of Bleacher Report, a league source tells him that the Thunder are not looking to move Paul George. The source also tells Berger that the team is committed to working things out and that Westbrook, Anthony, and George are all embracing the change – and challenge.
For us three, it’s learning to play off the ball and learning to space and do all the little things,” George tells Bleacher Report. “We have to learn and try to figure out. It’s a big sacrifice when you’re used to running an offense, when you’re used to knowing where your shots are going to come.” In the rough and tough Western Conference Oklahoma City will need to make strides chemistry-wise, and quickly.
