A jury in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has found Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams and Trayvon Newsome guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Williams, Newsome and Boatwright are expected to receive mandatory life sentences at a court hearing in the future.
Williams, Newsome and Boatwright were accused of participating in the shooting death of Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, better known as XXXTentacion, at Riva Motorsports in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on June 18, 2018. After the chart-topping musician was shot and killed, the three men were accused of taking $50,000 from the musician. Shortly thereafter, surveillance video taken nearby reportedly showed the three men flashing their cell phones and $100 bills believed to be taken from the scene of the crime.
“Tell my brother I got the money for the new phone,” a text from Boatwright reportedly read shortly after the shooting.
Alongside Newsome, Boatwright and Williams, Robert Allen has also been arrested and tried and convicted for his involvement in the robbery and murder. Allen has been convicted of second-degree murder and will be sentenced at a later date.

“On June 18, 2018, Jahseh Onfroy—known worldwide as XXXTentacion—tragically passed away from a gunshot wound in Deerfield, Florida,” a statement from the artist’s management team reads.
“XXXTentacion touched the lives of millions around the globe and will forever reside in the hearts of countless fans who listened to his music, attended his concerts, and felt the glow of his uncontainable, undeniable, and unique spirit.”
