After weeks and weeks of mediocre performances at the domestic box office ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ came to save the day. The past few weeks at the box office have been really tough, with no film debuting at over $35 million since ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ back in mid-September. However, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ bucked that trend to the side and debuted with over $121 million domestically. Ragnarok had already debuted in other parts of the world last week and has already managed to bring in over $427 million worldwide. ‘Thor’ should kick off what is set to be a barnstorming end of the year at the box office with ‘Justice League’, ‘The Last Jedi‘ and ‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle‘ all expected to be big hits at the box office. ‘A Bad Moms Christmas’ finished in the second spot with a respectable $17 million debut. The film was made for a very modest $28 million and should have no trouble making a profit in the coming weeks as we inch closer and closer towards the holidays. ‘Jigsaw’ unsurprisingly fell over 59% from week to week. The latest addition to the ‘Saw’ franchise was a one weekend, Halloween play for the studio and it paid off. The film was made for $10 million and has already grossed over $59 million worldwide. Tyler Perrys ‘Boo 2’ and ‘Geostorm’ rounded off the top 5 by bringing in $4.65 million and $3.03 million respectively.
