Every year the NBA draft gives the world a sneak peak at the next potential basketball superstars. This year’s NBA draft is by no means an exception, with no shortage of exciting up and comer draft picks. If you’re a fan of NBA, like us and many other betting sites across Australia, then chances are you’ll be tuning in with much interest to see who gets their shot in the limelight. This year’s 60 draft picks for the NBA, like all previous years before is abundant with phenomenal talent and each one of these new (NBA new) players bring with them their own incredible range of talent on the courts. With that in mind, here are our top 4 picks of the season:
Bojan Bogdanovic
Bojan Bogdanovic, a 25-year-old Croatian National standing 6’9” tall, is a regular player for the Croatian National Team, where he showed off his athletic ability in the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
His current stats scream endless potential and super star probability, making it no surprise that the Brooklyn Nets signed him on July 22 2014 to play shooting guard/small forward; his current team number is 44. We wait with baited breath to see how he fares….
Cleanthony Early
Cleanthony Early, an impressively seasoned court star standing an enormous 6’8”, was the 2 time Player of The Year (NJCAA) whilst playing for the Sullivan County Community College; as well as an All-American college player for Wichita State University.
Early officially signed on to be a forward with the New York Knicks on August 1st 2014, after he was selected with the 34th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Knicks. To aid his development; early was loaned to affiliate club Westchester Knicks, but featured in just two games for the NBA Development League side before being recalled by his parent club. Seems his 18.5 and 11.0 point average in 45.2 mins showed that he may already be a more complete player than his management thought!
Jabari Parker
At just 23 years of age Jabari Parker (son of former NBA player Sonny Parker) is most certainly following in his basketball star father’s footsteps. Particularly when he currently holds a game scoring record of 27 points for the USA’s Under 16 International squad in 2011, as well as being the youngest ever receiver of the USA Male Athlete of the Year award in December 2011!
Parker was selected second in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, signing as a small forward/power forward on July 9th 2014 and joining them for the 2014 NBA Summer League.
Andrew Wiggins
It would be nothing short of ridiculous to not have mention of Andrew Wiggins (son of former NBA player Mitchell Wiggins) of Ontario Canada. Wiggins was named the number 1 pick in the 2014 NBA draft making him the second ever Canadian to be taken number 1 overall in the NBA draft.
At just 20 years of age Wiggins has spanned a wildly impressive career (earning him the number 1 NBA draft pick).
Outrageously high performance expectations would be placed on this young man, and on October 29th 2014 he would exceed them. His NBA debut with the Minnesota Timberwolves against the Memphis Grizzlies as a small forward/shooting guard would only solidify his draft pick position when he exploded onto the court with an astonishing 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist in his first 18 minutes on the court. Pretty impressive if you ask us!
Since then this outstanding athlete has earned the title of Rookie of the Month for October, November and December 2014. His current team number is 22 and free betting sites across Australia, such as Free Bet, seem to be backing him as the favorite to have the most impressive season.
Of course it remains to be seen whether these top picks make a further impression in 2015, but we’ll be watching with great interest to see how these future stars perform.
