Things To Consider Before Your Next Computer Gaming Session

Gaming has a number of benefits. It can increase coordination, reduce stress, and keep your brain active. While playing games should be enjoyable, there may be times when logging in results in frustration. Computers and technology can be temperamental, and something small could significantly hinder your performance.

Fortunately, you don’t have to live with an unenjoyable gaming experience. Get ready for faster speeds and more wins, because we are here with our top tips. Before playing your next game, make sure you read this:

Consider a GPN

A GPN, or VPN for gaming, is a popular option for serious gamers. While a VPN (Virtual Private Network) encrypts all of your data, a GPN (Gamer’s Private Network) will help you connect to the fastest gaming server and prioritize speed.

This means you could significantly improve your in-game performance and reduce lag and latency. If you mostly use your internet data for gaming, we recommend a GPN, rather than a VPN. Encrypting data won’t be a priority, but low latency gaming will be. The right GPN will be compatible with multiple devices, use intelligent processes to streamline your gaming connection, and offer support for your favorite games.

Buy a Better Router

It isn’t just your computer that needs to meet the demands of online gaming. The router you use is important, and if you haven’t upgraded recently it might be time for a newer model. When purchasing a router or modem, there are a few things to look for. If you do experience high pings and lag, consider using an ethernet cable to connect directly to the router. It will need dedicated ports.

A tri-band router with a high range of bandwidth will give you faster speeds for graphic-intensive games, with the ability to split network traffic. For those prepared to pay a little more, a router with advanced geo-filtering will help you access the closest server for improved gameplay. Remember, fast, graphic-rich, multiplayer games such as first-person shooters and racing games will be more demanding than real-time strategy games. The type of gamer you are will have an impact on your purchasing decisions.

Prepare Your Computer

There are tools available that can give you an accurate picture of whether or not your computer hardware is capable of running a specific game. You may need a new GPU (graphics processing unit) and the best option for serious gamers is a powerful, discrete graphics card.

If you exceed the system requirements but are still experiencing problems, you may need to optimize your computer. Check whether your graphic driver is up to date, and close any unnecessary programs that may be running and using up your memory. Make sure your virus protection software runs seamlessly in the background, and pause automatic scans during gameplay.

Your computer may be due for a hard drive defrag, and this can be done with a drive optimizer tool. Depending on your device, this may be accessible via tools or settings.

Get Ready for Your Next Game

If you are ready to experience the benefits of gaming, without the frustrations, the strategies in this article are a good place to start. Make sure your computer and router are suitable for your needs and make upgrades if necessary. For gamers, a GPN will be preferable to a VPN because it will connect you to the closest server, rather than encrypting your data.
No matter what type of game you decide to play, get ready to have fun, and smash the competition!
