This year has been full of incredible R&B releases. H.E.R. has dropped two projects, Tory Lanez has dropped two project, Brent Faiyaz has dropped a project and many more have projects on the way to close out the year. With everything that has been going on, The Weeknd has remained relatively quiet.
At the top of the year, the Toronto native popped up with a surprise project called My Dear Melancholy. Coming in at just under twenty-two minutes, the project delivered for Pop and R&B fans alike without overpowering the market. Immediately following the release, it appeared that the Grammy winner disappeared to work on some more music. After last night, it appears that we were right. New music is on the way!

During a special performance alongside Bryson Tiller, NAV and The Neighborhood, Abel announced that his next project would be called Chapter 6. Abel didn’t tell fans when exactly the project was going, but he did say that it was “coming soon”. While on stage, the Pop star said, “Being in Toronto these past two days, I haven’t been this inspired in years.” He later added, “I want you guys to be the first to know I’m working on my new album right now.”
Given that his last project was a surprise to most outside of his own camp, this could mean that a new project is coming next week, next month or next year. With that being said, it’s always exciting to hear about new music from The Weeknd.
