In order for therapy to take place, it must be done in a safe environment. Well, what’s safer than the basement of a serial killer’s home? In the first trailer for FX’s The Patient, Steve Carrell plays the role of a therapist by the name of Alan Strauss who finds himself caught between a rock and a hard place while attempting to aid someone who desperately needs help.
“He’s been held captive by a serial killer who wants his help,” the trailer’s description reads.
“Featuring Steve Carell as therapist ‘Alan Strauss,’ The Patient is a psychological thriller about a therapist who is held prisoner by patient Sam Fortner who reveals himself to be a serial killer. With time running out, Alan fights desperately to stop Sam before Alan becomes complicit in Sam’s murders or worse – becomes a target himself.”
