The New York Knicks cannot wait to get this dreadful regular season over to finally put this season in the past.
The Knicks front office need a legitimate off season plan which will obviously involve a high draft pick with their record at 11-46 and shouldn’t get much better then that with Carmelo out for the season.
Phil Jackson also has worked diligently to get The Knicks salary cap under control getting Carmelo Anthony and Jose Calderon as the only two larger contracts on the roster for 2015-2016 season so they’ll have some money to work with.
According to The New York Post Greg Monroe could command a max contract from The New York Knicks. The Pistons failed to agree to a contract that both parties felt was fair for both sides and Monroe eventually agreed to Detroit’s qualifying offer of $5 million.
Since coming into the league in 2010 Monroe has been as consistent as they come averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds in his career. Monroe’s developed a nice post game and proven he has established himself with some of the better bigs in the league.
The Knicks making an offer to Monroe would be a big acquisition that could give the team a much needed post presence.
Obviously The Knicks need a lot more then just Monroe, but it’s a step in the right direction for the organization. The Knicks will have some competition for the big man this summer though.
