The Internet has been on hiatus for what feels like an entirety in the age of the internet. When The Internet dropped their last album in 2015, Jabari Parker was still in college, Nicki Minaj was still with Meek Mill, “Back To Back” hadn’t dropped and Trump being President was still a laughable thought. After being away from music for three years, The Internet are back with their newest project, Hive Mind. Complete with previously released singles “Come Over” and “La Di Da”, The Internet’s new project is a fifty eight minute run of smooth, R&B centric music with no features.
When asked about the album’s creative process, Syd said, “We rented houses and studios all over the world and just lounged around, no pressure. The last few sessions in Australia were some of my favorites. We made the last 3 tracks on the album there. Such a vibe.” In short, that’s exactly what the album is. Hive Mind is a vibe from start to finish of smooth summer music that you could play at a cookout, kick back or summer trip.
If you like their new project, you can check out The Internet out on tour. The band will be on the road with Gorillaz on The Now Now Tour in October. For the time being, you can stream their new album above or get tickets to see them at Afro-Punk in August or Trillectro in September.
