Amazon is showing out at this year’s Comic-Con in force. Friday they showed off Carnival Row and The Boys, two intriguing new series hitting Prime Video in the next month. They’re actually so confident in The Boys that they’ve already renewed the series for a second season. Then, Amazon kept the ball rolling on Saturday by showing off the first trailer for season 4 of The Expanse.
The sci-fi epic based on the book series of the same name was canceled by SyFy last year. However, after an intense fan campaign, Amazon revied the series and ordered a fourth season. Fans have been curious how things would change at the new home with fewer restrictions and it becomes obvious in this trailer. Though SyFy wasn’t restricted by any means, regular cable still has profanity and violence standards to uphold to keep advertisers happy. That’s not the case with Amazon, however, and it’s pretty clear that the showrunners took the extra freedom and ran with it.
The Expanse season four looks to be a more mature, violent take on a show that was already considered pretty violent and mature. So, things should get pretty interesting when the show returns in December.
