Not that anyone actually wants this to be made, but it seems the remake of ‘The Crow’ is officially going to be happening. For what seemed like forever, The Weinstein Company and Relativity Media were fighting over the rights to the film and it seemed like it was never going to get off the ground (at least I hoped it wouldn’t). But alas the two companies have reached a settlement and have decided to team up together to make the film! I definitely didn’t see that one coming (I figured the Weinsteins would win this one).
I personally think ‘The Crow’ should be left alone. Listen, the film wasn’t perfect, but it also doesn’t need to be remade! Sometimes I can get on board with some remakes (See ‘The Departed,’ ‘Scarface,’ ‘The Ring,’ etc), but it’s times like these when I realize that Hollywood has seriously run out of fresh ideas.
I’m assuming most fans of the original film feel the same way, but despite the lack of audience enthusiasm it seems pre-production is officially underway and we should hear casting rumors within the next few weeks. I heard Bradley Cooper was once rumored for the role, thankfully that never happened.
