Before his sentencing date, Tekashi 6ix9ine attempted to plead with the judge, offering an apology and championing his assistance as a witness, hoping for a light sentence. According to courtroom dialogue live-Tweeted by reporter Matthew Russell Lee (@innercitypress), Judge Englemayer is not taking the actions of Tekashi 6ix9ine lightly.

Lee continues the Twitter thread, updating with Judge Engelmayer’s final words to Tekashi 6ix9ine before handing down a sentence of 24 months with 5 years of supervised release. Tekashi 6ix9ine initially faced more than 30 years behind bars.
Judge Engelmayer: Mr Hernandez, please rise. It is the judgment of the court you are to serve a term of 24 months in prison, with five years of supervised release.

“So far your story appears to prove that there is no such thing as bad publicity… In the end my judgment is that 13 months is not enough. I’ve considered other 5k sentences, in gang violence. 13 months is outside the mainstream.” says Judge Engelmayer according to the Twitter thread.
“Mr Hernandez, if you expected to be released today, you will be disappointed. But you were wise to cooperate. Your cooperation will result in years more liberty.” He continues.
Tekashi 6ix9ine will serve 24 months minus the 13 months already served in addition to 300 hours of community service and a $35,000 fine, Lee reports as he closes out his Twitter thread.
