Teddy Bridgewater was forced to leave Minnesota Vikings practice earlier today as he went down with a non-contact leg injury. Everyone feared the worst including an achilles tear, a fractured knee and everything in between but there was no official news about it. As the day progressed, news on the health of the third year quarterback didn’t sound too positive.
Fake twitter accounts and everyone else online speculated what could possibly be the diagnosis but the actual doctors determined what it is. Unfortunately for Vikings fans, Bridgewater has suffered a torn ACL and some other structural damage in his knee. One of the most intriguing players going into the 2016 season might miss the entire campaign.
Following from an official statement by the Minnesota Vikings.
Statement from Vikings Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer Eric Sugarman on Teddy Bridgewater:
Teddy Bridgewater suffered a non-contact injury today at practice. The injury was quickly identified as a dislocated knee. The injury was stabilized, and he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. After undergoing an MRI, it was determined that Teddy suffered a complete tear to his ACL and other structural damage. Fortunately, there appears to be no nerve or arterial damage. Surgical repair will be scheduled within the next few days. Although the recovery time will be significant, we expect Teddy to make a full recovery. I would like to thank all of the medical professionals and our athletic training staff for all of their help today. Teddy has already displayed the attitude needed to overcome this injury and attack his rehab.
With Bridgewater out for the foreseeable future, if not the entire season, they now turn to veteran journeyman quarterback Shaun Hill to hold down the fort as Bridgewater recovers. Not to mention, the Vikings also recently cut their starting center and that usually doesn’t mean good things for a quarterback.
With Teddy going down, all the eyes turn to the Vikings All-Pro future Hall of Fame running back, Adrian Peterson. Could AP have another huge season in store? The Vikings might need it if they want to make the playoffs.
