This year, Netflix is really trying to push their agenda of more original movies, and ‘Bright’ will be just one of many ‘blockbuster-esque’ type movies coming to the online streaming service. Directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, ‘Bright’ follows 2 LAPD police officers doing their nightly patrol when things take a turn for the worse. At first that may sound like a normal cop movie, but here is the catch. The movie is set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been co-existing since the beginning of time.
This film will come out sometime this year and it’s reportedly cost Netflix $90 million dollars to produce. That has to be the most expensive movie they’ve made so far and it’s definitely a business move to compete with Amazon, whose original movie ‘Manchester By The Sea’ just won an Academy Award. Netflix has got the right guys to do it as well, the last time David Ayer and Will Smith were doing a movie, it was Suicide Squad, that has its own Academy Award as well.
