My my that game was over by halftime and I have to eat a little crow here. I’m not the biggest fan of Kyrie Irving, but he was on fire tonight. Walks into the game in the latter stages of the first half and explodes. Three after three, James Harden got in the action putting up 15 points in the 1st. Kyrie ended the game 6-6 from three. Serbia’s 5 point lead at the start of the game was demolished swiftly and Team USA did not look back.
By midway through the 3rd quarter it was garbage time. Team USA broke 100 points before the 4th quarter!
Kudos to Serbia. They will go back to Belgrade heroes. They were clinical all tournament and we’re completely bum rushed by Team USA. They are a great team no doubt.
But the gold goes to Team USA. 1st time they’ve won back to back World Championships. 1st time to win 4 consecutive international tournaments. Swift end to a surprising tournament. USA ended up not facing favourites Spain but they didn’t get cocky and stuck to their game plan.
My MVP of the tournament? Kenneth Faried. Wasn’t the most dominant stat wise but was the motor of the squad all tournament and he has proved himself to be a great power forward.
