On Wednesday, July 24, TA Thomas made his grand return with producer, Ray Keys. Together, the duo delivered “Angry,” a soulful selection that pairs relatable lyrics with passionate delivery.
As Thomas’s songwriting and the official video illustrates, “Angry” sets the listeners in Def Jam recording artist’s bedroom. While he sits on the bed, his significant other runs in and out of the room wearing a sliky red slip that tempts him just enough. However, things aren’t going as great as her outfit suggests. For whatever reason, she’s at odds with him, but that’s not enough to keep someone who loves her away for long. In fact, that’s what she’s betting on.
“You tell me to leave you alone, but that look in your eyes lets me know that you really want it,” he sings.
“I’d do something to make you scream. Can you blame me? I can’t help it, girl. Make a scene. [It’s] the heat of the moment. I love it when you get angry.”
The brilliance of “Angry” lies in its simplicity. No, it’s not a long, drawn out saga with a complex plot. The three-minute track is about something any person in a loving relationship has dealt with. Sure, there are moments when you’re mad or upset, but we all just want to push past those moments. In the heat of anger, we find things that turn all of that aggression into passion and love. TA Thomas seamlessly takes all of those collective moments and turns them into an expressive single that is filled with emotion and a bit of fun.
