The corporate workforce within T-Mobile could experience a few changes this spring. According to an internal memo obtained by Bloomberg, the company is expected to begin firing unvaccinated corporate employees beginning in April.
Under the company’s reported policies, employees will have until February 21, 2022 to receive at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. If an employee does not abide by the company’s policy, the individual will be place on unpaid leave for six weeks. After the unpaid leave period has concluded, it appears that employees will be let go from the company if they do not follow company’s policy.
“T-Mobile’s badge-controlled offices continue to be accessible only to those who are vaccinated against COVID-19,” a spokesperson for T-Mobile told The Verge.
“We have shared with employees that we are requiring office workers to be fully vaccinated by April 2.”
T-Mobile is far from the only company to institute such a policy. Google and Intel have both indicated that they will place employees on unpaid leave if they are not vaccinated. Meanwhile, Apple and Meta have required that employees receive a COVID-19 booster shot.
