T.I. is upset about HBO’s Leaving Neverland documentary that claims Michael Jackson allegedly sexually abused two young boys.
The Atlanta rapper posted a video on Instagram of an interview Piers Morgan conducted with Michael Jackson in 1999. Jackson can be heard denying the allegations, calling them “unfair.” T.I. captioned the post with, “let this man speak for himself to defend his legacy. Don’t just listen to one side and expect to find truth. Oh that’s right…Dead men can’t speak.”
He continued on in the caption,
“So what was the point again? Destroy another strong black historical LEGEND?!?! It’s several examples of pedophilia in American History… if y’all pulling up all our old shit… we gotta examine ELVIS PRESLEY, HUGH HEPHNER,and a whole slew of others guilty of the same if not more!!! BUT WHY US all the time? There’s an agenda to destroy OUR CULTURE.”
T.I. followed up on the Instagram post with another one, of a screenshotted Twitter reply where someone also refuted the claims. T.I.’s caption read, “These are assaults against OUR CULTURE!!! Make no mistake of it!!!”
TIP is not the only celebrity to speak up in defense of Michael Jackson’s legacy since Leaving Neverland’s premiere. Stevie Wonder, Stephanie Mills, and Jackson’s brother Jermaine Jackson have also spoken out about the legend.
