Grammy-nominated group Swedish House Mafia to light the Empire State Building’s world-famous yellow and blue lights, the colors of their native Swedish flag on February 28th at 1PM. In honor of their Black Tie Rave charity at Hammerstein Ballroom to benefit the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund in support of hurricane Sandy relief efforts and Save the Children’s initiative to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in America, where nearly one in four lives in poverty.
In the wake of the school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut last Decemeber, the organization is calling for a National Commission on Children that will address the issues of violence, mental health and poverty.
The Black Tie Rave will take place on February 28th, one day before the group kicks off their 4-night NYC run of their massive One Last Tour with record-breaking sold out shows at Madison Square Garden and Barclay’s Center.
Swedish House Mafia was also the first electronic act to ever headline MSG when they sold out their December, 2011 show in 9 minutes. They beat that record by selling out this week’s show in 8 minutes and are now the first electronic act to play 3-consecutive nights at Barclay’s Center.
