It’s impossible to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this thing we call Hip-Hop without honoring the legacy of the legendary MF Doom. San Francisco-based design house Super 7 has partnered with the estate of the legendary musician to produce an action figure stylized in his likeness. Additionally, Super 7 and the MF Doom estate have released a set of t-shirts and hoodies inspired by his debut album, Operation: Doomsday. To top it all off, the MF Doom estate has teamed up with Gasdrawls to re-release Vaudeville Villain, an album created under his Viktor Vaughn alter-ego 20 years ago. The vinyl re-release package includes a 12” gatefold jacket with spot metallic silver print, silver double vinyl, printed labels and dust sleeves.
The MF Doom estate may also be involved in a posthumous release as well. Madlib recently told Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97 that he may be in the process of completing a posthumous joint project with his longtime collaborator.
“We have like 10 joints. [It’s] just not complete,” Madlib explained.
“It’s more like a demo to me because we didn’t piece it together or anything and some of them it sounds like he just did one take and that’s it. [But] I’m gonna finish it. I gotta change a lot of the beats because some of the beats were used also.”
