The Phoenix Suns have continued their relentless search for an evasive quality backcourt piece, and they have yet to let up here in the latter parts of the offseason.
With Devin Booker plugged in as the long-term solution at the two-guard, the Suns have tried desperately to pair him with a top point guard but haven’t found a successful formula. Following the departure of Eric Bledsoe, the Suns also tried a 20-game experiment with Elfrid Payton which yielded mixed results. Now with Payton moved on to the Pelicans, the Suns again find themselves without a serviceable starting point guard.
According to John Gambadoro, the Suns have tried to trade for a trio of solid point guards in Damian Lillard, Kemba Walker and Terry Rozier.
Suns have definitely been trying to trade for a front tier point guard – Lillard, Walker, Rozier – but to no avail. Situation at point guard now is not ideal and Phoenix will have to make a trade but Milwaukee pick that they own is not that valuable.

Obviously, the Suns know they still lack a floor general to go along with the rest of their young talent. While Booker is the marquee name, the Suns also just drafted Deandre Ayton first overall. Not to mention their additional pieces such as Josh Jackson, T.J. Warren and Mikal Bridges who all figure to have a longterm impact.
While it would certainly be a luxury to have someone such as Damian Lillard or Kemba Walker on your team, those targets seem far-fetched to say the least. Especially considering the Suns only have so many tradeable assets, adding a superstar point guard is highly unlikely.
Someone such as Terry Rozier, however, could be a more realistic option. Still, despite being the backup to Kyrie Irving, Rozier is an integral part of Boston’s championship-caliber roster and they have shown no inclination towards them looking to move him.
While the Suns continue to hunt for the answer at point guard, they will likely open next season with their current collection of Isaiah Canaan, Shaquille Harrison and recent draft pick Elie Okobo.
