As the Golden State Warriors continue their trek towards threepeating as NBA champions, they could end up getting center DeMarcus Cousins back late in the postseason.
Cousins tore his left quad less than a month ago in April, but now, it appears he may be able to work his way back well earlier than expected. In fact, head coach Steve Kerr also said Cousins could still manage to return some time before their season is over.

While this is obviously huge news for DeMarcus Cousins and the Warriors, both sides may want to proceed with caution. Cousins already came into the season severely hampered with his ruptured Achilles and the torn quad he sustained has turned this into an even more injury-marred campaign for the star big man.
Cousins must also consider his looming free agency period this summer and the qualms many suitors may now have regarding his future from a health perspective. Cousins is a big body and coming off two serious leg injuries in the span of just over a year is certainly concerning and will alter many of the offers he receives in free agency.
The Warriors themselves have been rolling without Cousins but anytime a talent as immense as Boogie can rejoin your team, you certainly take advantage. If Cousins were to get cleared sometime later in the playoffs, he’d likely play limited minutes but his impact would still be palpable. Ultimately, adding that dominant interior presence could push Golden State over the edge and lead them to their third straight NBA title.
