The ESPY(Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Awards given out to athletes and teams each year by ESPN.
Nominees for the best NBA Player of the Year award were Russell Westbrook, James Harden, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Stephen Curry. Curry won the award, which shouldn’t surprise anyone, given that won this year’s NBA MVP award. Sure, LeBron James is the better, more complete player(and you just know LeBron fans will harp on about why he should have won the award over Curry), but Curry was the best NBA player this year, which is why he won the MVP award(and the championship). Curry became the first guard to win the award since Kobe Bryant won it in 2010.
Curry was also nominated for the Best Male Athlete Award, and his step back 3-pointer was nominated for Best Play of the Year.
