Golden State Warriors point guard and reigning MVP Stephen Curry returned for game four against the Houston Rockets after missing games two and three with an ankle injury. In his absence, the Warriors won one and lost one, and led the series 2-1 going into game four. Unfortunately, Curry went down with an entirely separate injury towards the end of the first half after slipping on a wet spot:
That did not look great. Afterwards, the Warriors said that Curry would return. However, after warming up, he went back to the locker room, and didn’t start the second half. It was later announced had sprained his right knee, and would not return for the remainder of the game.
The Warriors should be able to dispose of the Rockets with or without Curry. Going forward, though, they’re going to need their MVP if they want to repeat as champions. Curry didn’t look like himself, and finished the half(and game) with just six points on 2-9 shooting, including 1-7 shooting on three-pointers.
UPDATE:
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical on Yahoo! Sports, Stephen Curry’s MRI has revealed a sprain and he could miss up to two weeks. An official press release from the Warriors revealed the same.
Vertical Sources: Steph Curry’s MRI on knee has returned negative, no damage, a Grade 1 sprain. Could miss two weeks.
