Stephen Curry is the first man to do a lot of things. He’s the first player drafted in the first round of the 2009 NBA draft to win an NBA championship. First player in NBA history to hit not only over 300 three-pointers in a season but he finished this past season with over 400. He’s also the first unanimous NBA MVP in league history.
Yet despite the achievements, accolades and praise he gets, there are still some who are skeptical of his award. The 2-time NBA MVP has come under criticism for his award and how he won it. The unanimous title attached to his honor is something that was well deserved but critics have come out of the wood works to make their opinion known.
NBA great Tracy McGrady says Curry’s unanimous NBA MVP award shows how ‘watered down’ the NBA is, LeBron James took a passive aggressive approach to give Steph a backhanded compliment of sorts and Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin, as expected, said his superstar in LeBron is more valuable than Curry.
What does this mean to a man who’s on a path to greatness and a spot for sure in the basketball Hall of Fame? Well, Stephen Curry summed it up elegantly.
