Less than a year ago, Vince McMahon stepped away from his duties with WWE after he was put under investigation for sexual misconduct. In his absence, his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, filled the role of co-chief executive officer alongside Nick Khan. Earlier this month, Vince McMahon utilized his power as the majority shareholder to insert himself as the company’s executive chairman. Now, it appears that his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, will step away from her duties as the co-chief executive officer of WWE.
“About [eight] months ago, I took a leave of absence and within a few weeks, unexpectedly had the opportunity of a lifetime. I had the privilege to return as the Co-CEO and Chairwoman of the Board of WWE. I cannot put into words how proud I am to have led what I consider to be the greatest company in the world, working alongside a remarkable leadership team and one of the strongest executives I have known in my Co-CEO, Nick Khan,” Stephanie McMahon wrote.
“Our Founder, Vince McMahon, has returned as the Executive Chair and is leading an exciting process regarding strategic alternatives. And with Nick’s leadership and Paul “Triple H” Levesque as Chief Executive Officer, I am confident WWE is in the perfect place to continue to provide unparalleled creative content and drive maximum value for shareholders.”
Nick Khan will move forward as the company’s sole chief executive officer. Michelle Wilson and George Barrios will also fill the two board seats left vacant after two members resigned upon Vince McMahon’s return.
