CBS has had the attention of the entire country over the past week. This past Sunday, the cable channel hosted Super Bowl LIII. This upcoming Sunday, they’ll have the attention of the music world with the broadcast of the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. Tonight, they’ll have the attention of the entire country for an entirely different reason. Donald Trump will deliver the 2019 State of the Union Address for a crowd of politicians and distinguished guests. Immediately following his speech, history will be made as Stacey Abrams has been chosen to deliver the Democratic Party’s response to the address.

By delivering tonight’s rebuttal to Donald Trump’s speech, Abrams will become the first Black woman to ever deliver such a speech. In support of her groundbreaking achievement, a number of entertainment luminaries showered her with support. Common tweeted, “Ahead of Stacey Abrams’ State of the Union response, watch a clip of her special conversation with Ava DuVernay!” The Women’s March added, “When does Stacey Abrams come on? We are ready.”
