Spotify is following in the footsteps of other podcasting platforms with its latest development. Today, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the streaming platform would allow users to submit ratings for podcasts they may enjoy. In order to do so, users must listen to at least 30 seconds of the podcast before dropping a review. Podcast hosts will also be encouraged to let their listeners know about the new feature. After a podcast has received at least 10 ratings, hosts will be able to view their overall rating. Ratings will run from one, being the worst, to five, being the best.
“Once listeners find a new show that looks promising, we want to make sure they have all the information they need to hit play — including a sense of how other listeners have enjoyed it,” Spotify wrote in a blog post earlier today.
“By introducing ratings, we’re making it easier for listeners to decide when to try out a new podcast that might be their next favorite.”
At this time, there is no official launch date for the new feature. However, Spotify did note that it will be available in the “coming days—so be on the lookout.”
