Rachel Dolezal is the president of Spokane’s chapter of the NAACP. For years Dolezal identified as a Black-American; she’s a prominent activist in her region. However, once questions about her ethnicity rose, the truth came out.
And who else better to spill the beans? Your parents.
Dolezal’s mother, Ruthanne Dolezal, said Thursday by phone from her home in Northwest Montana that she has had no contact with her daughter in years. She said her daughter began to “disguise herself” in 2006 or 2007, after the family had adopted four African-American children and Rachel Dolezal had shown an interest in portrait art.
She also adds:
“It’s very sad that Rachel has not just been herself. Her effectiveness in the causes of the African-American community would have been so much more viable, and she would have been more effective if she had just been honest with everybody.”
According to her mother their ancestry traces back to Czech, Swedish and German, with a “faint traces” of Native American. She even went as far as to provide a copy of her Montana birth certificate proving her and husband Larry Dolezal are Rachel’s parents.
Peep this interview where she was questioned about her father, in which she freezes up and dips off. Skip to the 8:15 mark.
Comedy.
