Spencer Dinwiddie has reportedly signed a three-year, $34.5 million contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets, with a player option in the third year. Dinwiddie could’ve signed a four-year deal worth an estimated $47.5 million but he took less money on a shorter deal instead.

Currently, in the midst of his fifth NBA season, Dinwiddie is averaging a career-best 16.9 points per game in 29 games. Dinwiddie previously stated that he would “love” to sign a contract extension with the Nets, and it seems Brooklyn shared his opinion.
The news of Dinwiddie’s contract extension comes less than 24 hours after he scored a career-high 39 points off the bench in the Nets 127-124 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, the most by any Nets player this season.

Since joining the Nets in December 2016, Dinwiddie won the 2018 NBA Skills Challenge during All-Star Weekend, and his improved quality of play led him to be nominated for the 2017-18 Most Improved Player Award, eventually won by the Indiana Pacers’ Victor Oladipo.
