South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are celebrating the launch of the show’s 27th season and a new deal with Paramount Global. Through Parker and Stone’s Park County, the co-creators of South Park have reportedly reached a five-year deal with Paramount Global. In addition, South Park Digital Studios, a company co-owned by Paramount and Park County, has reached an exclusive licensing deal with Paramount+ spanning five years.
Under the deal, Stone and Parker will work together to create 50 new episodes of South Park over the next five seasons. Furthermore, all previous 26 seasons of South Park will continue to call Comedy Central and Paramount+ home within the U.S. Internationally, South Park will return to Paramount+ after being removed briefly due to contractual differences.
“Matt and Trey are singular, creative forces whose fearless humor and boundary-pushing storytelling have made South Park one of the most beloved and enduring series ever — more popular today than at any point in its history, and one of the most valuable TV franchises in the world,” Paramount Global Co-CEO Chris McCarthy said. “They are exceptional talents and trusted partners – we’re thrilled that Comedy Central and now Paramount+ globally will be the home to South Park for years to come, and our thanks to the Skydance team for their vital partnership in making this happen.”
The deal kicks off this week with the launch of South Park‘s 27th season. From wars with Canada to disgraced media mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs traveling through space, the raunchy comedy series promises to bring the laughs and viral moments as in previous seasons.
