Lenard “Charlamagne Tha God” McKelvey has partnered with Comedy Central to host a weekly talk show beginning this fall. While details involving the new show are still up in the air, early reports indicate that the show will tackle current affairs relating to politics, entertainment and much more.
“Charlamagne’s voice is very right for today,” Comedy Central executive Chris McCarthy said
“It’s fresh and real and resonating in a way that very few can do,” he added.
Prior to teaming up with Comedy Central, McCarthy and McKelvey worked together at MTV 2 on Guy Code. McKelvey also hosted a weekly talk show on the network called Uncommon Sense. More recently, McKelvey had reportedly signed a deal to host The Gray Area on HBO. However, the show was seemingly pulled when rape allegations resurfaced in 2018. The premium cable network never formally announced a split between the two parties, but no movement has been made in nearly two years regarding the series.
The new Comedy Central show does not yet have a name, but is expected to debut this fall before the election.
