Is it possible for Sony to revisit a few of there classic characters, specifically Crash or Spyro and will they be successful as they once were? During his recent Keynote at Develop In Brighton, SCE CEO Andrew House spoke briefly about the possibility of future games for the beloved Spyro and Crash .
“This is very dangerous ground,” Mr House laughs. “In concept, it is something we’ve been thinking about and discussing, and this is a shift for us. We’ve started to say that maybe there isn’t anything wrong with going back and looking at characters that people still talk about, that were a big part of either their childhood or their youth. I definitely wouldn’t close the door on that.”
House goes on to tell us that his focus is on upcoming shooter ‘The Order 1886’. Although Sony isn’t turning their backs on Crash, Spyro or others such as Jak and Daxter, Sony would have to go through Activision to get there paws on Crash. Sony can make a new Jak and Daxter whenever they find a developer willing to, Spyro? who knows, but only time will tell on when we’ll see these classic faces on our next-gen console.
