With Microsoft receiving the ‘exclusive’ rights to EA Access coming to light yesterday, Game Informer talked with a Sony spokesperson about EA’s new venture and why they passed on it.
‘We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect. We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.’
With Playstation Plus booming for Sony right now, as an active gamer, I can see why Sony may have passed on EA Access. Yes you may be able to play games 5 days upon release, but some of the games will be timed trial’s or you’ll have access to a game mode for a limited time. On the flip-side of thing’s, you’ll have full access to certain EA titles as long as you have an Access pass.
What are your thought’s on this matter? Should Sony have passed on EA Access, would you have been willing to pay an extra $5 a month or $29.99 a year in addition to your $49.99 a year for Playstation Plus?
