From the north to the south, New Jersey is having a week in Hip-Hop.
On Friday, September 26, 2025, Camden native Sol ChYld released ReBirth. Theory, a 28-minute record that often feels like an obituary to the past, a mission statement about the person she is today, and a prequel to the person she will soon become. With contributions from DRAM, Eric Scott, Kaicrewsade, Wiseboy Jeremy, and Kingsley Ibeneche, the album embraces themes of transformation, growth, and self-acceptance as elements of jazz, soul, Rap, and R&B underscore her effortlessly smooth vocals. Above all else, her signature lyrical precision and innate ability to go from singing about love to simply popping her s—t are the final aspects of the album that take it from being in someone’s rotation to being one of the most refreshing albums you’ll hear all year.
As a follow-up to 2023’s Something Came To Me, ReBirth. Theory is more than a worthy successor. Just entering her late 20s, Sol ChYld is both exceptional and shy of hitting her prime. If Something Came To Me was strong and ReBirth. Theory was excellent, who’s to say that her next LP won’t be even better? However, great art takes time and life lived to create. So, until then, check out Rebirth. Theory below and get ready to hear more and more projects from the Garden State in the months to come, because this is just the beginning of a movement.
