The life of Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus will be coming to a screen near you in the future. Not long ago, the Long Beach native announced that he was working on a film about his life, career and legacy. Earlier this week, Snoop Dogg and director Allen Hughes shared a few promising updates regarding the film.
“That’s next. We’re starting this summer. I’m so excited,” Hughes told Variety when asked about the project.
“I can’t wait to go back to the hood, and do a hood story that becomes inspirational. That’s what I get from him.”
Hughes is not the only one who’s excited about the biopic. The man behind the story, Calvin Broadus, is also beaming with joy regarding the project. The chart-topping musician turned entertainment mogul has not identified who will play the role, but he is working with Black Panther scribe Joe Robert Cole to craft the script.
“With the biopic, I’m looking forward to people seeing this right here, this love story,” Snoop Dogg answered when asked about the film.
“To see the love that I have for my music career. The people that have inspired me to love. Just watching it all unfold. Coming to a theater near you.”
