Philadelphia 76ers backup forward Justin Anderson has reportedly had surgery on his left leg, according to Matt Haughton of NBC Sports. The surgery was to relieve stress on his tibia, commonly referred to as shin splints. He will be reevaluted in two weeks and again in six weeks.
Anderson did not play much in 2017-2018 due to injuries. He only appeared in 38 games, averaging 6.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. The Sixers acquired Anderson as part of the Nerlens Noel trade to the Dallas Mavericks. Justin Anderson was drafted by Dallas, playing in 106 games before being sent to the city of Brotherly Love.
Philadelphia craves shooting, something that Anderson as of now has been unable to do. He shot 43 percent last season from the floor, with 33 percent from beyond the three-point line. While he does bring energy off the bench, Anderson becoming a competent shooting threat would make his utility in Philadelphia go much farther.
