Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona on February 12, 2023.
“To be there with those great singers, artists, performers, I’m going to accept what it says about me ’cause they would not have chosen me if they did not feel I could deliver,” Ralph told Entertainment Tonight.
“And I’m ready to deliver!”
Ralph is best known for her role as Barbara Howard in the popular ABC series, Abbott Elementary. In this role, she secured her first nomination at the Golden Globe Awards and earned her first victory at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards.
In addition, she has appeared in Moesha, Dreamgirls, Barbershop, Criminal Minds, Sister Act: Back in the Habit and Claws. Moving forward, she is expected to appear in The Young Wife and Cooking4Luv.
Beyond her work on the screen, she has continued to display her love for music over the years. She hosts an annual singing benefit and released a solo album in 1984. More recently, she released a Christmas album in 2022.
Ralph will have the opportunity to move her vocals from the studio to the field on Sunday prior to the start of Super Bowl LVII.
