Shazam! got a fun new trailer on Monday, basically a month ahead of the new DC film’s April 5th release date.
The trailer opens similarly to past trailers, showing fans how Billy gets his powers from Shazam, a powerful wizard. This is a shorter moment than in the original trailer, focused more on the joke Billy makes then any of the actual lore behind the film’s version of the wizard. From there, we get more of the same with many key scenes from the first trailer making an appearance here. We do get more action-oriented moments showing Zachary Levi in action as the titular hero set to Eminem’s ‘The Real Slim Shady.’
In this trailer, we also get a better look at Mark Strong’s villainous Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, who we actually don’t know much about at this point. The trailer also brought some new insights into the Shazam/Billy dynamic as his age/immaturity seems like it will be explored heavily. Beyond that, this trailer seems like it’s holding something back like there’s some big cameo or plot point that’s being left as a surprise until the film’s release. But maybe that’s just me reading too much into its simple structure and set up.
Regardless, check out the new trailer below:
Shazam! is set to hit theaters on April 5th.
