Royce Da 5’9 is known as one of the most gifted wordsmiths to ever touch a microphone, but away from the studio he’s known as a huge boxing enthusiast. Recently, the Detroit native chopped it up with two-time welterweight champion Shawn Porter about Saul Alvarez-Caleb Plant, Jaron Ennis and what rapper he’d least like to box. In the midst of his conversation with Porter, the welterweight contender revealed that he’s cooking up some content with the GRAMMY-nominated artist.
“You and I…Actually, the first time we really connected was when I promoting my fight with Errol Spence Jr. We had a good conversation and we were kind of bouncing some ideas off of one another about promoting boxing. [We were talking about] promoting big fights [and asking], ‘Where was the target audience?’ And I think we were able to unlock some keys,” Porter told his listeners.
“We have started Shawn, Royce & Tom Uncut. That’s going to be on Say What Media Presents. [It’s going to be available on] all of the podcasting platforms. Then, [it’ll be available on YouTube] on Say What Media. So, what I’m going to be doing is talking to Royce through the rest of this camp and I’m going to be giving everybody that in-depth perspective of what it’s like to go through a championship training camp.”
The first episode of Shawn, Royce & Tom Uncut is currently available below and the most recent episode of Porter’s The Porter Way podcast with special guest Royce Da 5’9 is currently available on YouTube.
