Shakur Stevenson and Jeremiah Nakathila have found a venue for their upcoming super featherweight title bout. The showdown was set to take place near Stevenson’s hometown of Newark, New Jersey, but COVID-19 restrictions moved the bout from Madison Square Garden in New York to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Stevenson-Nakathila is one of three bouts set to take place at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas in the coming weeks. One week after Stevenson works to extend his undefeated streak, Naoya Inoue will work to extend his undefeated streak to 21 wins against Michael Dasmarinas. Then, Vasyl Lomachenko will return to the ring against Masayoshi Nakatani.
Stevenson enters the bout as the heavy favorite against Nakathila. If he wins, he will have the opportunity to fight champions like Jamel Herring and Oscar Valdez.
“Yo, Jamel Herring [we’re] getting ready champ. [I] hope you [are] ready,” Stevenson tweeted last week.
First, he’ll have to take care of business on June 12 in Sin City.
