One of the most promising guards out of this year’s draft class, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander oozes potential, something that shoe companies are also aware of.
In fact, the NBA’s sneaker giant has taken notice of the Clippers’ blossoming talent, as Nike has signed the 20-year-old Gilgeous-Alexander to a multi-year apparel deal.

Though Nike is the most prominent footwear brand in the NBA and largely sports in general, a large sum of the younger players have been leaning elsewhere. A long list of this year’s top draft picks helped support the up-and-coming basketball section at Puma, while others have aimed to pave their own path with other brands such as Adidas.
Adding Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to their already dominating team gives Nike an additional youth factor to lean on in the future. Drafted towards the latter parts of the lottery, he is expected to come in and have an immediate impact in a Los Angeles backcourt lacking much excitement.
