“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey continues to stake its claim as the most commercially successful country song of the year and, potentially, the decade.
On Thursday, December 26, Billboard confirmed what many already expected. “A Bar Song” will spend another week atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, extending its reign to 27 weeks. Only one other song released this decade — “I Hope” by Gabby Barrett — has spent 27 weeks atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. More broadly, only two songs — “Meant To Be” by Florida Georgia Line and “Body Like a Back Road” by Sam Hunt — have spent more time atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart during its 65-year history.
Shaboozey had the opportunity to end the year atop the charts and the timeline. One day before he topped the Hot Country Songs chart, he joined Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Carter, and Post Malone at NRG Stadium for a special halftime performance during Netflix’s broadcast of the Baltimore Ravens 29-point beatdown of the Houston Texans.
The Virginia native will reunite with Post Malone and the Carters during the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, February 2. Shaboozey is nominated for five awards, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year.
