Muhammad, 24, was drafted 14th overall by the Utah Jazz in 2014, before being immediately traded to Minnesota. Muhammad has spent the past four seasons with the Wolves, compiling career averages of 9.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game on .476/.336/.774 shooting.
Per Def Pen’s Clevis Murray, Muhammad received interest from the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic and Chicago Bulls.
Muhammad had reportedly been interested in signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Muhammad’s return is big for a Timberwolves team that added immense talent this offseason in the form of Jimmy Butler and Jeff Teague but somewhat lacked depth. Muhammad will provide some relief when Butler and Andrew Wiggins sit.
