Sephora is shutting down all of its U.S. stores on Wednesday, June 5 for a diversity training. The inclusion training comes after SZA reported an incident back in April, claiming that she was racially profiled at a Calabasas location.
The singer stated in a tweet, “Lmao Sandy Sephora location 614 Calabasas called security to make sure I wasn’t stealing. We had a long talk. U have a blessed day Sandy.”
SZA says that the Sephora employee called security to make sure she wasn’t stealing. Sephora responded to SZA’s tweet, apologizing for the incident. They stated,
“Hi, SZA. We’re sorry to hear about your experience at our Calabasas store and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We want to let you know we take complaints like this very seriously and are actively working with our teams to address the situation immediately.”
CBS Los Angeles reports that 16,000 Sephora employees will be participating in the training. Employees will take part in “workshops to help them understand its values.”
