Regardless of any reported locker room discord the Seattle Seahawks still sit in the driver seat of this division. No matter how you look at this team they still possess 2 things you need to win in this league a franchise quarterback and an elite defense. Yet there are still lingering questions this team will have to answer, will this O-line protect Wilson? Can they win if he goes down? Will a few loses unravel this locker room?
Positions battles
Running back: Eddie Lacy, Thomas Rawls, Cj Prosise, Alex Collins, Chris Carson, Mike Davis
This competition is a very interesting one, with new comer Eddie Lacy and 3rd year back Rawls competing for the starting job. Eddie Lacy is the favorite to land the starting job come week 1 due to Rawl’s flop as a starter last year, but Lacy is used to running behind a lot more talent than Seattle provides up front. If Prosise can stay healthy he might see a significant increase in snaps as a pass catcher in his second year.
Right Guard: Mark Glowinski, Ethan Pocic, Rees Odhiambo
The Seahawks line will probably remain its largest weakness regardless of who starts, but depending on how they handle it, Seattle could make a patchwork job work for another season. With last years starter Ifedi moving back to tackle the next name on the chart is Glowinski but he struggled heavily with run blocking last year and was wildly inconsistent. Second round pick Pocic is a versatile player who could step up in a big way if given the chance, especially with the support of Justin Britt next to him.
Right Cornerback: Jeremy Lane, Shaquill Griffin, Neiko Thorpe, DeAndre Elliott
The obvious answer here is Deshawn Shead but it looks like he won’t be ready for season’s start. Jeremy Lane is seen as the favorite due to his experience, playing significant snaps last year, and the price tag on him. That doesn’t necessarily mean there isn’t a competition though. On a highly competitive defense if rookie Shaquill Griffin or vet Thorpe comes out with energy and performs Coordinator Kris Richard always rewards hard work.
Ready to Breakout: Cj Prosise
With the receiving skills he showed as a rookie the Seahawks are planning on giving Prosise more snaps this season. Although his totals aren’t great due to injuries cutting the season short, he still averaged 5.7 a carry and caught 17 of 19 targets for 208. If Eddie Lacy or Rawls goes down or doesn’t perform, expect Prosise to step in without missing a beat.
Rookie to Watch: Ethan Pocic
How Seattle handles its O-line will have a large impact on their season and that is directly correlated to how they use Pocic. The versatile lineman started at center last year at LSU but with that spot full he can easily transition to guard or tackle. With most of the offensive line still up for grabs, Pocic could be a big piece in this offense if he can grab some attention during camp.
Sidenote: Keep an eye on Malik McDowell if he comes back healthy at any point this season.
Fantasy Sleeper: CJ Prosise
This kid’s name just keeps coming up, this one has a lot of upside but a floor just as low. In the 6 games he played last year he put up more than 14 three times(even a 20+ game) in PPR formats, the only problem is he didn’t top 3 points in the other half. With two men ahead of him on the depth chart he could struggle to get snaps at times but if you can pick the right week he can be the difference maker for your team.
