Seattle Seahawks fans can breathe a sigh of relief today. They will no longer have to worry about the future for one of their key players. Russell Wilson will be remaining in Seattle for the next few seasons.
There was some concern over what Wilson would agree to and if other quarterback deals recently, most notably Cam Newton, would be a platform for Wilson’s negotiations.
Despite the rumors of Wilson wanting to become the highest paid NFL player or denying prior Seahawks contract offers, at the end of the day, he will be locked in with Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson have agreed to a four-year, $87.6 million contract extension, reports The MMQB’s Peter King.
According to King, Wilson will receive $60 million in guaranteed money, which includes a $31 million signing bonus. He is still due $1.5 million in base salary this year, the final season of his four-year rookie contract.
Wilson and the Seahawks had been negotiating a deal since the season ended. Wilson reportedly said he would end contract talks if a deal was not done by the team training camp started. The Seahawks report to training camp on Friday morning.

Tom Brady, Peyton or Eli Manning, John Elway, Brett Favre or Troy Aikmen have not been as successful as Wilson in their first three seasons in the NFL. Wilson has won 36 regular season games, made three playoff appearances, went to the Super Bowl twice and won one Super Bowl title.
With Wilson now locked up, the Seahawks can now focus their efforts on another possible issue. The contract situation of All-Pro safety Kam Chancellor.
