Brooks had a change of sceneries in 2016 when he migrated from Oklahoma City to the DC area. In his five seasons with the Wizards, he had a 183-207 record and lead them to three trips to the NBA playoffs.
His first two seasons were the most successful reaching the conference semifinals in 2017. With the John Wall injury, the losses started to pile up and a resurgence came in the last season with the arrival of his former star player Russell Westbrook.
This season the Wizards made the new play-tournament format and lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round.
Including the recent news with Stan Van Gundy, there are now six head coaching openings for the offseason to fill, including the Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, New Orleans Pelicans, Orlando Magic, Portland Trail Blazers, and Wizards.
