Andrew House, SCE president sat down to talk with IGN for a bit to talk the future of the PS Vita. Present at this week’s Develop Conference in Brighton, House lets IGN know that because of the Playstation 4’s release, the future of Triple-A content on the Vita is now up in the air. Since PS Vita users can play their Playstation 4’s via Vita’s remote play feature, is Triple-A content for the Vita truly necessary?
“I certainly think you’ll still see [Vita] as a triple-A machine in Japan where it has a different function with the console dynamic of the marketplace,” he said. “That for me is a given. It’s hard to say in terms of the other markets.
“I think remote play is still in its nascent stages, I think we need to have better understanding. We know a lot of players are embracing it and using it and seem to like the experience a lot, but necessarily that changes the dynamic. You know, if you can play your PlayStation 4 content at will on Vita, then does that obviate the necessity of having Triple-A content or not?
“I think that question will stay unanswered for a little bit.”
As a PS Vita owner, I myself have been wondering about the Vita’s future content wise. Although I get to use my Vita as a second screen to play my Ps4, I personally think that Sony and game developers should continue pushing out Triple-A content for it.
