Former Philadelphia 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie recently resigned and it came as a shock to some. Not because he did it but because he did it so fast and seemingly without any warning, just a few days after appearing on a podcast with ESPN’s Zach Lowe, talking about the future of the Sixers and discussing how excited he was about their future.
Yet the writing was on the wall once Jerry Colangelo was hired a few months ago and the ‘process’ was shortly going to come to an end after Colangelo managed to get his guys in the organization. Despite the season almost being over, Hinkie has elected to step down and leave the Sixers and he has left the team in the hands of Colangelo.
Hinkie’s resignation also came with a long, drawn out 13 page letter of resignation and with over 7,000 words and so many different references in it, it could be hard to follow for some. Thankfully, someone decided to take the letter and put it on ‘Genius’ and gave the letter the proper annotations that it deserves. While Genius is known for doing annotations for songs, it’s kind of cool someone added the letter and broke it down for all to understand.
